Yes, that's correct. The app checkpoints but not very often and there is some overhead to restarting from a checkpoint.

Thats right. But with your equipment, the loss should be insignificant ;)
If you want to catch the right point in time, you should sometimes look in the properties of a WU. There you can see, when the last CP has been passed.
